Archambault

Experience and Passion

For over 50 years, Archambault has been producing character sailing yachts appreciated the world over. 60 % of the production is exported through an international network of distributors. Situated near Chatellerault, close to main transport routes, the yard is just 1hr 30 mins from Paris and 2hrs from the Atlantic coast.

Competences and Technologies

We set up a new company in 2006 : ASTER COMPOSITES. This company manufactures all our composite structures using the latest technology.
All decks are vacuum injection moulded; the hull of the A35 is the first to be vacuum infused; all the others are contact moulded. The parent company, BATEAUX ARCHAMBAULT designs, assembles, fits out and markets the yachts.

Skills and technology, a unique knowledge

Our experience in the field of boat building has allowed us to develop innovative technology: the hulls are produced by infusion technique and deck resin injection. This major innovation gives us worldwide recognition. We are pioneers in the development of methods of injection and infusion. We create a technical revolution in shipbuilding craft, now imitated by other prestigious projects.

Injection process

The decks of our boats are injected under vacuum; This manufacturing technique involves injecting resin between two rigid molds, gel-coated and pre-trimmed glass fabrics. This specific polyester resin is injected under pressure through specific points. The air then the overflow resin escape under the effect of pressure of the resin, through vents placed on the molds. So we get pieces perfectly smooth on both sides, while keeping control of materials used, glass and resin.
The injection has the advantage of building a room extremely rigid, favoring the exceptional performance of our yachts.

Infusion process

We have developed a revolutionary technique for making our hulls: impregnation by infusion using 70% glass fiber and 30% resin. Unlike the injection, a single mold is rigid, the second consists of a flexible envelope: a vacuum bag for a vacuum. The resin penetrates through the center of the room and circulates in the tissue by suction through a drainage layer porous fed through pipes.

The infusion allows us to gain light, and velocity.
